CHIRPY HAS PASSED AWAY...
Please ignore the rumours that Miss Tasker murdered the class bird. The children have written a humourous song about how this took place. We are unsure how it happened but we made sure we gave Chirpy a great send off.

Making our School Pool Cool
This term we are doing Technology!!
The children will be designing changing rooms for our school pool and also designing a West Spreydon School Pool sign. 1. Sketch a range of changing room designs 2. Choose favourite design 3. Construct a 3D model of changing room 4. Parents come and check out the models and vote for their 3 favourite 5. Top 3 are chosen 6. The designs are then drawn up on a computer by an engineer and 3D printed 7. Top 3 models are presented to the board |

This week we had a look at the flags. We discussed if we wanted it changed 20:7 wanted the flag changed because our current one looks like Australia's.
The children voted for their favourite and it was well spread across.

-How long can you blow a party horn for? Who can do it the longest?

Fun with Math
This week the Stage 5/ 6 math groups had to construct their own multiplication/ division math game. In the photos the children are playing a game where they have to find the children with the math question. If they get it correct they get to hide and then the hider becomes a finder. Such a sad time saying goodbye to Mike Barber who has done sports with us since last year. My highlight was basketball last year and seeing how much the children enjoyed basketball. It inspired me to start basketball in our school

We have been collaborating for Maths, Reading and Topic. It has been a blast!!
We had Goksel (from Turkey) and his wife Kate (lives in Turkey but is Kiwi) come visit Room 3, 4 & 5.
Goksel explained to us that Turkish people love Australians and Kiwis because of Gallipoli. Interesting concept for the children to see you can be friends with people after war.
